Recommended Resources in Transportation from Eastern Transportation Knowledge Network: Home

Purpose of This LibGuide

This LibGuide brings together resources of interest to transportation engineers who work at state DOTs and other transportation organizations, and offers a contemporary one-stop portal for transportation information.

Each DOT is different and offers access to different resources in different ways.  You should contact the librarian or staff member responsible for publications in your organization to determine what resources have been purchased for your use.  Librarians can get you started on finding literature based resources that might assist you in your work.

FHWA Pooled Fund Study TPF-5(237)

The Transportation Library Connectivity & Development Pooled Fund Study was a funded consortium of libraries in the DOTs and UTCs working cooperatively to enhance library services among its membership. We serve our members and the entire transportation information community with products and services we design and select for tangible, lasting benefits for librarians and researchers.

TKN stands for "Transportation Knowledge Network," a group of regional transportation libraries and organizations formed to increase access to transportation information and provide cost-effective, new and improved services for member libraries and their users.  This video explains the roles of the three regional Transportation Knowledge Networks.

What is the ETKN?

Transportation libraries and organizations from the Eastern U.S. AASHTO Regions 1 and 2 joined together to form the Eastern Transportation Knowledge Network (ETKN) in November of 2007.  ETKN provides leadership in the implementation of strategies for transportation information management for the 21st century.  ETKN collaborates with other regional networks and the National Transportation Knowledge Network (NTKN) in its effort to support the advancement of research and best practices for our nation's transportation infrastructure.
