Performance Measures for Automobile Mobility: Home

State DOT Mobility Performance Measures- Automobiles

Many performance measures can be applied across modes, but measures used specifically for automobile mobility include: Vehicle miles traveled, vehicle hours of delay, travel time index, duration of congestion, average vehicle occupancy, vehicle crash frequency/rate, vehicle miles traveled in congestion, level of service, auto speed, auto travel time reliability, planning time index, cost of congestion, single occupancy commute mode share, and incident clearance time.  This guide looks at literature 2013-2017 discussing the development and analysis of mobility performance measures.

State DOT reports include agency performance measures, as well as research and methodology associated with a specific state. A brief description can be viewed by hovering over the title.  Reports are full-text unless otherwise noted; other papers and articles can be obtained through interlibrary loan.

This platform is provided through the National Transportation Library.
