Pollinator Corridors on Highway Right-of-Way: Home

In June 2014, a Presidential Memorandum was issued from the White House directing federal actions to address the issue of pollinator conservation, resulting in the creation of a Pollinator Health Task Force and the National Strategy to Promote the Health of Honey Bees and Other Pollinators. In response to this many state DOTs began to develop programs to use portions of highway right-of-way to plant native wildflowers to create pollinator habitats.

This guide offers information, guidelines and program descriptions of roadside pollinator programs from federal agencies and other national organizations, state DOTs, and other resources. All links are to full-text documents unless otherwise noted; items that need to be requested can be obtained through interlibrary loans by the ODOT Library.

This platform is made available to transportation libraries through the National Transportation Library.
