This paper aims to fill research gaps in understanding consumer preferences for different types of bicycle facilities by examining property value impacts of four bicycle facility types in Portland, Oregon: on-street advanced bike facilities and bike lanes; and off-street regional multi-use paths and local multi-use paths.

Lessons from the Green Lanes: Evaluating Protected Bike Lanes in the US, 2014
This report presents finding from research evaluating U.S. protected bicycle lanes (cycle tracks) in terms of their use, perception, benefits, and impacts. This research examines protected bicycle lanes in five cities: Austin, Texas; Chicago, Illinois; Portland, Oregon; San Francisco, California; and Washington, D.C., using video, surveys of intercepted bicyclists and nearby residents, and count data.

Evaluation of Innovative Bike-Box Application in Eugene, Oregon 2000
An innovative "bike box"--a right-angle extension to a bike lane (BL) at the head of the intersection--was installed with accompanying traffic signs but no extra traffic signals at a busy downtown intersection featuring two one-way streets in Eugene, Oregon, in summer 1998. Videotapes were used to evaluate operational behaviors and conflicts with motorists, other bicyclists and pedestrians. Can be downloaded on ODOT computers.

Portland's Blue Bike Lanes: Improved Safety Through Enhanced Visibility, 1999
To determine whether colored bike lane markings help improve safety at bicycle-motor vehicle crossings, the City of Portland has been experimenting with blue pavement markings to delineate selected conflict areas. This project investigated the effectiveness of blue colored pavement markings in reducing bicyclist-motorist conflicts at designated crossing areas.

On-road Bicycle Lane Types, Roadway Characteristics and Risks for Bicycle Crashes, 2019
Previous research indicates that the effectiveness of bicycle lanes differs according to roadway characteristics, and that bicycle lane types are differentially associated with reduced crash risks. The aim of this study is to combine these perspectives and identify the types of on-road bicycle lanes that are associated with the greatest reductions in bicycle crashes given the presence of specific roadway characteristics.
