Intersection Design to Accommodate ADA Curb Ramps: Home

This guide was created in response to a request for information on roadway design guidance to better accommodate transitions to ADA curb ramps and other accessibility facilities.  Very little literature was found specific to this topic, so a broader search was done to find information that might contain portions touching on this subject.  The results have been roughly organized into the following categories:

  • Intersection Design to Address Pedestrian Safety
  • Studies on Pedestrian Safety at Intersections
  • ADA Specific Studies
  • Raised Crosswalks/Crossing Islands
  • Bike and Pedestrian Facilities to Address Safety Issues
  • Safety Accommodations at Intersections for Persons with Disabilities

Many of the reports and articles cross these categories; they were designated to create some organization to the information.  Where the full-text paper was available, the document has been attached to the record; other resources can be requested by the library through interlibrary loan.  The categories are arranged by date of publication.

This platform is made available to transportation libraries through the National Transportation Library.
