Leadership:
Geoffrey Potter (TxDOT), Co-Chair. Geoffrey works at the TxDOT Research Library out of the University of Texas at Austin. Geoffrey earned his library degree in 2018, including a class specifically focused on role and abilities of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and various algorithms towards findability. He has conducted at least 6 literature reviews over the years, each becoming more specific on this topic. The first was a general survey of how AI/ML works, and more recently a literature survey on how libraries currently use AI/ML, either to establish the best practice or simply a baseline. Geoffrey was asked to be a part of a panel at the 2023 TRB named “are we there yet?” on AI/ML best practices and/or state of the art. He is currently a member of the university library’s special interest group that discusses AI/ML at monthly meetings.
